Updating the answer to my own question: I now have figured out how to do future recording and see the future TV guide. The 1-2-3 button that you use to select channels has more than one level, and they take you to those future functions as well as a cable box's A, B, and C buttons. I still find it easier to use the cable remote and push just one or two buttons. Using the TV remote takes a while to figure out, and it also takes several steps through several layers. But it can be done.

To setup the universal remote, press the Home button to access the smart hub. Using the directional pad on the remote, navigate to Source. When the selector is placed over Source press UP on the directional pad to access Universal Remote. For additional assitance with the one remote, please reach out to Samsung Support at: ― Phone: 1-800-SAMSUNG / Available 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week ― LiveChat or Email: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/#contact_us_for_support We look forward to hearing from you. ^Tim

The One Remote's up and down buttons will not take me to the cable box's A, B, and C buttons on the on-screen display, which control those future functions. To get to other functions, I followed the advice of Cristian, the Samsung ambassador. I made sure my cable box was connected via HDMI and that the Anynet+ setting was turned on (go to Home screen-Settings-External Device Manager-Anynet+). I went to the cable box icon on my home screen, then used the up button to go to the top level, which shows the box's functions. I went to Recordings to see the screen that shows what has been recorded. I also could go to Record to start recording instantly. My cable box is an Atlas URC1056B04, rented through WOW/Knology. Other cable boxes might be even more compatibility with the One Remote.
