No, I don’t think it is a small consumer of electricity. One it is always on even when the screen looks off. I was told by the geek squad installer that the newer 4K and beyond smart TVs use more electricity because it takes more energy to create those super detailed images. Also the tv never goes completely off, otherwise it would take along time to warm up, or that’s what I remember being told
