Do you absolutely need the remote to turn the t.v. on? null

After using the Samsung Remote to pair an AV Receiver, Cable/Satellite Box or Video Player. You can use the remotes for these devices as sources to turn the TV on/off. I often use my Dish Remote to control the TVs volume as well as turn it and other audio video components on/off at the same time.

Hi there - While the remote will provide the easiest functionality to turn your TV on, you can also power on the Q60B with the SmartThings app on a mobile device or by using the TV Controller button located at the bottom of the TV (just under the Samsung logo). ^Gina
