Because it supports a 7900xtx, 4k @ 240hz and works wonderfully.... 4090 will never be able to do this as it doesn't have display port 2.1 on the card. Samsung has no way control the refresh rate of the video card. Planned obsolescence of a multi-thousand dollar graphics card. It's the reason I went team red this time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For anyone who may come across this, in my individual research, the RTX 5090 and 5080 have the necessary DisplayPort 2.1b interface. I have an RTX 4090 and 3090, both of which have the earlier DisplayPort 1.4a interface. So, perhaps a generation gap between AMD/Nvidia. Not a commentary just a heads up and your mileage my vary! What a monitor!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Thanks for reaching out inquiring about the blazing fast refresh rate and high resolution of the Odyssey Neo G9. To take advantage of the full specs of the monitor (7680 x 2160 @ 240hz), the graphics card being used must support Display Port 2.1 (UHBR 13.5) or HDMI 2.1 (FRL 12GBps). I suggest contacting the manufacturer of your graphics card for more information regarding the current or future support of this technology.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The bottle neck is that Nvidia 4xxx series of video cards only have display port 1.4 connections. The bandwidth of that connection only allows for 120hz at this resolution. The AMD 7900 XTX cards have display port 2.1 connections. This theoretically will get you 240hz at this resolution, but I still don't think the card itself will drive it that high on modern games without drastically lowering the quality of video. Depending on the game I get about 100fps with my 7900 XTX with HDR on, freesync on and ultra settings. I will say the picture is amazing though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unlucky should have went with the RX 7900 xtx which has DP 2.1
