The convection fan will only come on if in a convection mode (convection bake, convection broil, convection roast) if you are in a normal bake mode it will be off.

The internal cooling fan, which helps keep the electronics cool, and the convection fan, which is visible at the back of the oven and circulates heated air for more thorough cooking.
