• Hi Wilma, Congratulations on your new Samsung range and we are happy that you loving it. During self-cleaning, the surfaces may get hotter than usual. The burning or oily odor smell is normal in a new oven and will disappear in time. You are speeding the process by performing a self-clean on your range. Leo
