• I'm so glad you asked, curiousgeorge! All the standard features of the range will operate as normal with or without the Wi-Fi connection. However, the Smart features, such as monitoring from your phone, will not function without the Samsung SmartThings app connected. ^Jecca

• Great question. I have had the range for about a month now, cooked thanksgiving dinner and more without ever trying to download the app. So yes you don’t need to use the app or wifi. Great range. Wife is extremely happy
