“I read somewhere that this model doesn't require an external hood for venting. How does the smoke, steam, and other liquids from boiling/cooking vent? What about odors while cooking or baking? I'm good..but even I set off the smoke alarm now and again.”

It's not a gas range so does not require an exterior vent. With the occasional smoke from something burning, just open a door or window to let the smoke out. A recirculating vent helps with steam but that's about it.
