• I connected this TV to surround sound using an optical audio cable and then changing the setting under the audio settings to external speaker. It works great and did not have any issues connecting it.

• HDMI is going to be the best bet/best quality. Just run through your receiver

• I have a 5.1 surround sound system connected to this TV through a Yamaha receiver. I use an HDMI out from the TV into the receiver and then have my cable box, Xbox, PS4 and Chromecast running from the receiver. All devices play through the Receiver

• Cowgirl, This model has both an analog output and a digital output, which will connect into most audio systems. There isn't a headphone port, but the audio ports are designed to work with soundbars and AV systems. Thanks for your interest in Samsung products. --Mr. S
