all connections are recessed into a cutout in the right half of the TV and all connection are inserted into the sidewall of the cutout. All plugs insert into the cutout sideways, the cables do not exit straight out the back of the TV. Mine is mounted with a tilting-only mount, the entire TV is 3.5 inches from the wall and flat. The plugs and cables have no impact at all, visually or physically. In fact, there are several grooves in the lower back of the TV and snugly hold the Cat5e, power, HDMI and optical cables. This allows routing everything to one side and bundled together for a cleaner look down.
