This technology which provides a more life like image, more vivid colors and blacker blacks. If I'm not mistaken, the 8550 also comes with 3-D glasses, while this one does not, you must purchase them separately.

Please try again later.the 8550 has the quantum dot technology or whatever they are calling it. it does look better to me in the store than the 7100, I just returned a 7100...looked great in the store but when I got home it didn't wow me at all, tried many calibrations, settings etc, exchanged it for a vizio and couldn't be happier, cheaper and better picture = win win
