“Absurd design does not provide for variable audio output on "audio out" Anyone have a modest-cost workaround for this insanity? Unlike every other competitive TV there is no option for fixed or variable output from the "audio out" plug, so if you use an outboard preamp without a remote control volume, you will be running to it to mute commercials every few minutes! Anyone know a work-around aside from using the cheesy built-in speakers on your $3,000 TV?”

Yeah....I have an answer, dump your cable, or U-Verse or whatever you have. No more commercials. I "cut the cable" about a year ago and have't seen a commercial since. No more local car dealers screaming at you and best of all no more of those 3 minute pharmaceutical time wasters, not to mention the $200+ a month for U-Verse. Sure, there a a FEW shows I missed at first but I got over it, there is a lot of great stuff available. I run my audio thru a receiver too and if you have a $3000 TV it's probably 4k, not gonna see any of that on your local stations,and with my set-up, 90% of what I watch is is 4k.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Works fine for me. I actually don't like it when the audio out is variable, I want it fixed so I can control the volume with my sound system. I had to switch things to get it fixed the way I like it. But out of the box, the audio output is variable. But seriously, you should just get a universal remote so you only have one remote control and then punch through the volume and mute buttons for all devices. Works like a charm.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We use a sound bar and it works perfectly!! The smart remote even allows for you to control the bar with the power on of the TV which makes it even better. We are using the Optical cord with no problems and awesome sound!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I split the wires using both plugs into the TV. Component In (green plug) I'm only using the red. Audio Out is where I have the yellow plug. Using only the white and yellow RCA cable. That's what's powering my surround sound.
