No, I don't believe so. I use the DO cable to run my TV sound thru stereo. This has been going on for years. I just upgraded to 5.1 4k receiver so I can run 4k player thru stereo. I haven't finished install yet, but I'm running 4k player directly to TV and using DO cable for sound. It works fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Nothing is compromised, you only get a delay in sound as compare to coming straight from the TV. If the TV volume is on + your 5.1 speaker, you can hear an echo due to the delay. I usually turn down the TV volume and just listen through my receiver hooked up to the 5.1 speaker.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No you haven't. Arc allows the surround sound to power on with the television, this tv allows that with optical as well. Plus you get true surround sound with optical, with HDMI you cannot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just bought this TV and I fed all inputs to my reciever and fed receiver hdmi arc to hdmi arc input on TV works great ,pass thru on receiver so you can play TV with tv volume or power up receiver for surround sound.I researched this through Crutchfield as the correct Pro way for connecting.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.there shouldn't be any problems, but if you just use an HDMI cable to a home theater system that isn't 4k compatible, you won't be getting 4k resolution. You will still get high end HD 1080p though.
