Smart means it can reach beyond antenna TV and cable. You stream by using the apps ( like those that appear on the bottom of the screen when you switch it on.) You can watch movies on Netflix or other platforms, watch You Tube, shop on Amazon and a lot more. If you have some any of this, you have already used its Smartness. Wander into a Best Buy to the TV section and just ask the person who shows up to help you that question.

Streaming media is what you do with your Smart TV. If you're watching a show on Netflix that's what you're doing you're streaming the media through the Internet to your television and watching it like any other television show. So, rather than the information coming to you through a coaxial TV cable it's coming to you through the Internet. And the media is just any television show or program that you might be watching.
