Tv works off WiFi or Ethernet for internet. You will need 2.2 hdmi 4K hdr cables to get the best picture on any 4K device you are connecting it to. MAke sure amp or sound bar support 4K hdr 10 pass through.

Smart things hub would be required to incorporate the TV in your smart things environment. The TV will work fine just by plugging it in and connecting it to your cable box or blueray player like any other TV. Internet needed uf you want to use the smart apps etc. Hope that was what you were asking.
