An SSD is a blazing fast drive for your computer. Replacing your mechanical hard drive with a solid state drive will make your computer faster in almost every way - seriously you will be amazed at how an ssd can revitalize an old machine. Specifically, the difference between an SSD and a mechanical hard drive is akin to the difference between a MP3 file and a old record player. A mechanical drive works like a vinyl record. When you need to access something on the drive, it spins up like a record and there is a tiny needle that reeds the data on the drive. That means if you need to read several files on different parts of the disk, the needle has to move back and forth on the disk to read those files. That takes time. An SSD, on the other hand, stores files directly into flash memory. This means that there's no mechanical movement required to access files. Consequently, flash drives are much much faster than mechanical drives. If you get one of these SSDs you won't be sorry! Your computer will boot up in a matter of seconds and copying/transferring files is a breeze!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A SSD is a Solid State Drive. It is the electronic replacement for a hard drive. Since there are now moving parts and the data is stored on memory chips, the biggest difference is the speed. On my Intel i5 computer (a mid-range processor) Windows 10 loads in about 15 seconds. Office 2010 programs load in 1 to 2 seconds. SSDs also use less energy and are less susceptible to shock so are very good in portable devices.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.SSD = Solid State Drive It's like a flash drive and allows for the information on the hard drive to be made available faster.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Its drive made up of flash memory instead of a mechanical hardrive with moving pieces and platters inside that spin. The purpose to have a speedier drive that is quitter and more reliable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is a solid state disk. No moving parts inside. Uses less power than a normal hard drive. They are extremely fast due to the lack of moving parts.
