EVO 1TB SSD
||Posted .bought this needing an extensive amount of space, speed, and slim size. installed into my desktop. currently have it allocated for just games (305GB of 931GB). works quite well. have had this for just over a month and no issues, despite what i have read online. 4 out of 5 stars, because i found i could have bought this online cheaper than BB. :P battle.net games and steam games run well off of this and win 8.1.

What a difference!
||Posted .This is my first rating of anything I've ever purchased. I just wanted to let everyone know what a difference this drive has made to the operation of my laptop. The laptop is about 5 years old. It was really starting to slow down booting up, using Microsoft Office software, etc. I tried cleaning up the drive, took lots of files and programs off the computer but to no avail. I started looking into buying a new computer, but decided to try this drive based on its reviews. It was extremely easy to install and the migration of everything from the old drive to this drive was seamless. Booting up from the off position now takes less than 30 seconds (I have Windows 10 installed.). It's almost instantaneous from the sleep mode. All the programs work like a dream now, and I've been able to put some back on that I took off. I'm not interested at all at buying a new computer now. I highly recommend that you look into buying this drive if you've been experiencing a slow computer, you won't be sorry.

Fast Drive Gives New Life to Old iMac
||Posted .I installed this in my mid-2010 iMac 21.5" doubling the storage capacity in the computer (I was running out) and dramatically improving the speed! This is a real world usage bump in speed (opening applications, copying files, booting up, switching users, photo editing, etc.) where disk IO is the bottleneck. This won't speed up the processor and video card, for instance, so games won't run much faster for instance (levels may load faster though) as those are more dependent on processing power. The 2010 iMac 21.5 only has SATA II so I knew the speed would top out at 300MB/s while the drive itself is capable of almost double that. That is still 10 times faster than the drive I had before (a 7200 RPM hard drive that was getting a little over 30MB/s). I am definitely getting 300MB/s read/write speed so this is working awesome so far! The difference is pretty stunning as this is the biggest upgrade I think you can do on a fairly old computer (already had 8GB of RAM and you can't upgrade the processor due to the proprietary motherboard of the iMac). Honestly, my 5 (!) year old laptop is much faster (I mean noticeably) in real world usage now than a brand new maxed out Dell laptop I use at work with a conventional hard disk drive. SSD is worth every penny in my opinion!

Excellent so far; no problem with RAID config
||Posted .Purchased two to replace a pair of 600GB spinning platter hard drives I had in RAID 1 configuration when one of them failed. No hassles with setup and file migration (with the right software to do it.) Working great for a week now: totally silent and super fast. I hardly know other programs are running becuase of the silence and responsiveness of these. The 850 PRO series might be a touch faster, but comes with such a higher price tag that the EVO series is the best deal. Previous experience with a RAIDed pair of 250GB 850 EVO drives in another computer proved these 1TB models would pass muster in my personal workstation. I don't often buy my computer hardware from Best Buy, but BB had beaten Newegg's price by $33 each. Combined with taxes and rewards points, I'll realize about $85 in savings over competitor. That's huge!

Q: QuestionWhat is the purpose of an Evo SSD?Okay , An Evo is a name of an SSD. please explain what an SSD is and it's purpose..?
Asked by Martini.
- A:Answer An SSD is a blazing fast drive for your computer. Replacing your mechanical hard drive with a solid state drive will make your computer faster in almost every way - seriously you will be amazed at how an ssd can revitalize an old machine. Specifically, the difference between an SSD and a mechanical hard drive is akin to the difference between a MP3 file and a old record player. A mechanical drive works like a vinyl record. When you need to access something on the drive, it spins up like a record and there is a tiny needle that reeds the data on the drive. That means if you need to read several files on different parts of the disk, the needle has to move back and forth on the disk to read those files. That takes time. An SSD, on the other hand, stores files directly into flash memory. This means that there's no mechanical movement required to access files. Consequently, flash drives are much much faster than mechanical drives. If you get one of these SSDs you won't be sorry! Your computer will boot up in a matter of seconds and copying/transferring files is a breeze!

Q: QuestionIs this Samsung - 850 EVO 1TB model: MZ-75E1T0B/AM compatible in my macbook pro mid 2012 13"?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I think so because my MacBook Pro was built around the same time. Apparently there was a defective SATA cable in machines built around that time. I changed out the SATA cable and the hard drive and entered a whole new world of speed.

Q: QuestionInclude the adapter?
Asked by Anna.
- A:Answer You must purchase a SATA/USB cable to transfer your old drive into the SSD. This SSD comes with the tranfer software and it works great.

Q: QuestionWill this Samsung-850-evo-1tb-Internal-sata-Iii-SSD fit into my Toshiba R700-S1331 Laptop? Cheers, Laurence
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer It's a little bit complicated. Sorisso is correct, the Samsung EVO is compatable with your laptop, however I do not believe it will work out of the box. You will likely need an adapter from Toshiba. The SSD that came built into your Toshiba laptop is a 1.8inch drive with a miniature SATA connector. Toshiba used a cable that has a Standard size SATA connection on one end to connect to the R700 systemboard, and the mini 1.8 inch connector on the other end to connect the 1.8 inch SSD. This Samsung SSD is a standard 2.5 inch drive with a standard size SATA port. In order to connect it to your Toshiba laptop you will need a new cable from Toshiba that has standard size SATA connectors on both ends. (Basically the cable from a model of R700 laptop that shipped with a standard laptop HDD instead of the 1.8 inch SSD). See this Toshiba Support Forum page where people are discussing this cable issue - https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread.php?62313-Portege-R700-155-SSD-Connector-question.

Q: QuestionCan this be installed into a desk top, and if so how difficult is it to transfer from my old SSD to the new one?
Asked by steve.
- A:Answer It comes with software. it is easy. HOWEVER, make sure you can access your BIOS, and rearrange the boot order. If you don't, you might brick your PC like I did and spend several days trying to figure out what went wrong.

Q: QuestionIs this ssd working with desktop pc?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I have one installed on my Desktop PC and it's working just fine. I have SATA2 so I don't get the max performance from it but it is working very well for me. No complaints here.

Q: QuestionIs the Samsung 850 EVO 1TB Internal SATA III Solid State Drive Compatible with a Dell Inspiration 15 5000 series?
Asked by Jose.
- A:Answer Since that series can ship with either an SSD or a platter drive (and thus has a 2.5" drive mount in it), it is almost certainly compatible.
