Yes it will, I have even plugged Sata 3 drives into IDE motherboards with no issue, your only limitation is speed where sata 3 will be lowered to SATA 2.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, I have it in my older SATA system. Now the interface in my computer is the bottleneck rather than the hard drive. It is definitely a worthy upgrade. As far as I can find SATA III is backwards compatible with SATA II.
