Yes, this will work on your computer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a Dell Inspiron 17R (7720), recently installed this hard drive, I am very happy with the change and my computer now boots much faster. Physically this is a standard size drive and direct fit. The computer interacts with it as if it was a standard hard drive so there is no software changes or programming required to change to the SSD. The accompanying CD made cloning (copying all data, programs and settings) from my old drive simpler then I could have imagined. (You must buy or have a connection cable separately, I already had one from a previous laptop hard drive swap, about $20). After cloning and then installing the drive .. the computer just started, all programs ran and all data was there. Too simple. I was afraid my old drive was failing as my computer was starting to regularly hang and get stuck on the Dell screen during startup. All diagnostic tests said the hard drive and other hardware was okay. Turning off various auto-start programs and services had no effect. A few years ago the hard drive on my previous Dell failed after the same behavior and I lost data. This time I made the upgrade to this SSD and have my original drive sitting on the shelf as a backup. This time done before a failure.
