Yes. You will need the appropriate adapter to mount the smaller drive at the exact location where a 3.5" drive's SATA connectors are positioned. Alternatively, you can just plug in the bare drive (without an adapter) but moving the machine around might loosen the drive from the connectors. (I've done both)
