Yes, I installed the Samsung 2 Tb EVO 860. The computer boots and operates so much faster!

This item is a SATA drive and the Dell webpage says G7 laptops use a NVMe M.2 drive - these are different form factors and interfaces. See https://www.bestbuy.com/site/computer-accessories/hard-drives/abcat0504001.c?id=abcat0504001&qp=formfactormv_facet%3DForm%20Factor~M.2%5Eformfactormv_facet%3DForm%20Factor~M.2%202280 Dell webpage does not say if its a standard M.2 (22mm wide and 60 mm long) or an M.2 2280 (22mm wide and 80mm long, hence the name.) You may nneed to research what type it uses or open the case to measure, because you won't be able to fit a 2280 into the space for a standard. The operating system is almost certainly installed to the 256GB drive as well, so if you don't have a recovery/install disc, you'd need to figure out a way to transfer your partition to the new M.2 drive. This is going to require extra hardware and software, so you need to know what you're doing or go talk to someone at the Geek Squad desk in store before committing to purchase. I know Geek Squad could transfer data between SATA drives, but M.2 is a different animal. The 1TB HDD inside is a SATA drive though and should be replaceable with this item. Other than transferring your data, this shouldn't present any problem - you could probably do it yourself. You may need to purchase an external SSD enclosure to allow both drives to be hooked up at same time though. I own an older USB 2.0 model of this StarTech enclosure and have used it to transfer hard drive data several times: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/startech-com-usb-3-1-tool-free-drive-enclosure-for-2-5-hard-drives-and-solid-state-drives-black/5768707.p?skuId=5768707
