As a matter of fact I did just that. Download the free version of Macrium Cloning software and if will be easy. This software very easily allows you to adjust the size of the partitions. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.it depends, it should work as long as you can clone the 1 TB mechanical drive onto the 500GB SSD drive. This will of course depend on the software you use, and how much data you have on the original drive. Also you might run into issues with the hardware verification, through windows. and the UEFI boot up. be ready for these issues if they occur. By knowing how to enter your computers Bios and how to reactivate windows if it detects the change in hardware. While these problems might seem like this upgrade isn't worth it the increase in speed that you get from an SSD is most definitely worth it. Hope this helps!!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it is possible. There are plenty of "How To" videos on youtube on how to do this. Watch a few of them so you get the idea on how it works. If you want to keep your Win 10 and all of your loaded apps you will have to clone your 1TB hard drive. After you clone it and test to make sure everything works you can use your 1 TB as a backup drive and store data on it. Of course you will have to make sure it is not the boot drive in your bios. To clone the drive you will need a USB Hard Drive Dock (some call a toaster). These aren't that expensive and are available at that place that ships in 1 - 2 days. You will plug your 1 TB into it. You will need a cloning software. I used Macrium Reflect since I own a copy but go to their web site and there will be an evaluation copy that you can use for 30 days I believe but you will have to check that out. Someone will say that it is impossible to clone a 1TB hard drive to a smaller drive but if you have less than 500GB loaded on the 1TB it is possible. If you need to remove something to get it down below that you can copy data off of it to a large thumb or SDD plug in drive. Of course you would be smart to back up all of your data. I did this on a laptop and a desktop computer without any problems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Your system Huntingfool sounds about like my own was. However, I have a Dell Inspiron 15 system. It worked well and I'm satisfied. I would talk to Best Buy Geek Squad and ask them your question directly. I would think they could tell you for sure. JC
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, Samsung has software called Samsung Migration. It will only clone the actual data. If your current data usage already reached 60% of 500GB, I would recommend the 1TB. Remember 500GB actually comes out to 465GB of usable space. After the drive swap don't forget to install Samsung Magician, and check for a firmware update.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it will work in your computer.
