• J1308: The PS5 only supports PCIe Gen 4 drives, so the 980 is not compatible. The 980 PRO, 980 PRO w/ Heatsink, 990 PRO and 990 PRO w/ Heatsink are available drives that are compatible with the PS5. - Samsung Memory

• No it has to be gen 4. Do the 980 pro and get the 2tb so you will have space for later.
