you need a tiny star bit to remove it, it will void the warranty if you did a security sticker is installed. IMO, just get the non-heat sink version for your laptop. I was not able to install this in my Asus G15 2021 model due to the heatsink making it too thick.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the heatsink is easily removed but requires a pentalobe 1.5 bit (star-shaped not torx)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Easily yes provided you have a very tiny T3 Torx bit. The packaging as well as the warranty sticker covering one of the six Torx screws which secure the heatsink to the SSD say the warranty will be voided if the heatsink is removed. I didn't try this because the reason I purchased it was for an orphaned PCIe 4.0 motherboard slot which wasn't provisioned for a heatsink by the manufacturer and it fit the bill perfectly.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Look for product Samsung - 980 PRO 1TB PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe Gaming Internal Solid State Drive Model:MZ-V8P1T0B/AM SKU:6431939 Has no heatsink
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Samsung - 980 PRO 1TB Internal Gaming SSD PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe This is the same without the heatsink, and if I am correct is abvout $20 less.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They sell the same product without heatsink
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would advise not removing the heat sink as all Generation 4 m2s get really hot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't imagine it would be that difficult to remove, however, I have read that in doing so you will invalidate your warranty. I'd look for a similar drive without a heatsink.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not easily, but its possible. Be ready to void your warranty though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I tried to get it off. It has 5 small screws. I tried all of my small head. Philips, star, hex, etc, I couldn't anything that fit right to remove the screws. It's a big heat sink. If on a MB or laptop that has a heat sink built in to a cover it's not going to fit. If it doesn't have a heatsink cover built in it might fit, but measure or something first. It's a really big heat sink.
