This always depends on how the movie was originally formatted. You can always zoom in the picture if you don't want the bars but you will loose some of the picture, I do not recommend it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Usually you can by going to the settings of the bluray player and changing the aspec ratio to 16:9 wide or streched. Depending on the tv you have you can also change the same settings with your tv remote under a button called view mode which is on my sharp tv and allows me to stretch the screen, you might have this option available on your tv. Hope this info helps.
