You "technically" can't play 4K with either...the Blu Ray player has 4K "upscaling" so it attempts to get the quality up to 4K resolution as close as possible but not exact. I've only watched Blu Ray on it, but it's absolutely stunning
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.as I understand it, DVD has to be upscaled to 1080p and Blueray has to be upscaled to 4k. DVD resolution is 720x480 Blueray resolution is 1920x1080 4k Resolution is 3840 x 2160 This being said, you can play anything on the TV but depending on the source, it will not be as sharp as the TV can display. A DVD/Blueray player that has up scaling, just means that they can show on a higher resolution display like a 4K TV
