Greetings! We’re glad to provide clarification on this Samsung range model. The vent located at the back is designed to release heat and airflow when the oven is in use. Please note that this model does not include an exhaust system for the cooktop or stovetop. If ventilation is needed while using the stovetop, we recommend installing a range hood or an over-the-range microwave with a built-in exhaust function. Leo
