The tablet sits on the keyboard, the connection pins are on the bottom of the Tablet as well as the keyboard. It is secure. I put in my handbag and take with me on the go. Quick set up. I use it for text to speech as I cannot talk. It works perfectly. Good size and easy to set up and use. When you fold it up and close it, you disconnect the tablet from the keyboard. When you set it up, you simply place the tablet onto the keyboard slot and align the pin connection. It folds. Yes, the tablet is held inside of the cover, does not slide out easily. I doubt it would be good to drop it, but my guess is that it will stay in place inside of the cover. I will try to post pictures later. Hope this helps!

I've had it now and would definitely recommend. it holds in place very well not once have i felt it unsecured. I have not dropped it and don't plan on it, but i'm confident it will hold in place. the cover and key board are very well made.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you're talking about the Galaxy Tab S5e, its held by a pretty powerful magnetic case. It connects through a 4 pin connector and is very stable. I use mine a lot. If you don't want to use the keyboard just turn the Dex mode off. I turn it off to watch movies full screen which you can't do in DEX mode. If you finish the movie and want to use the keyboard, just turn the DEX mode back on.
