“Is this phone Sprint compatible. I just left there and had a Galaxy S8 which was purchased at AT&T and they said it was not compatible for Sprint (now Team Mobile). Not sure what difference that makes.”

The Galaxy A51 does work on Sprint, you will need a SIM card if you don’t have one it can be purchased at Best Buy. The Galaxy S8 if purchased at AT&T may not be able to work on Sprint. So I am just covering possible questions in your case. The only thing I would do is ask another store or person as to why and someone may have your answer that help you out. It can’t hurt.
