I would not substitute the Buds+ with a medical-grade hearing device if that is what you need. The ambient sound feature does work great when watching t.v. or talking with somebody and to me it does seem to enhance the volume around you, but again they are not hearing aids and do not even begin to compare to the sound quality and features of modern-day medical devices that are available. Please speak with your doctor for further information on medical-grade hearing devices.

I don’t think these are meant for that purpose but to answer your question the option on the app to hear ambient sound could be used to boost your hearing. When I use the option it brings everything in and it’s not customizable so that you only boost voices. Everything is boosted even fans, car sounds etc. They sound great for phone calls and music by the way! Long battery life too!
