Not necessary. It supports any android and iOS platform. You need to install the app "galaxy wearable" to control the buds.

Not necessary. You will need an app (android/iOS) called "galaxy wearable" which is also not mandatory but the issue is if you do not have that app, you will not get regular software update. The app also helps to see the battery life and many more. i am although using a Galaxy S10. the interface may vary in other phones.
