“Will this work with the Galaxy Note 4 to a MHL HDTV adaptor? I purchased a Galaxy MHL 3.0 HDTV Adapter to transfer video from my phone to a TV so that I can use my phone's data when away from home. (Truck driver) When I purchased it, it said it was compatible with my phone, but after receiving it wouldn't transfer sound. When I read why, most of what I found out was that I needed an 11 pin adaptor? I'm not technologically up to date on these things so any helpful info would be appreciated.”

The MHL 3.0 stands for USB 3.0. This adapter is designed to work with Samsung 2015 products that use both 3.0 and 2.0. Since you didn't say what phone you have I assume it means you only have a phone capable of usb 2.0. Thus a bottleneck and only half the information gets through.

This will transfer both if the other wire you are plugging into this cable is a USB to hdmi cable because hdmi supports both audio and video. Any other connection that supports both audio and video simultaneously will work. Connections that only support one or the other, will only give you audio or video (ie. S-video).
