I'm a veteran, and I asked that question at Best Buy when I bought a Galaxy S7 Edge. They were aware of a Verizon Veteran discount, but didn't know how to get it. I called Verizon, and they had me send them a PDF of my DD214. A few days later I got an email showing that I did get a 15% discount.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If the discount is on your plan then it will reflect on your Verizon bill. If the discount is on the purchase of the phone, and you are not financing it through the Edge program, then I am not certain that they can give that discount at Best Buy.

The verification is done by Verizon. I heard you can also do it in store at a Verizon store. The discount only applies to the billing statement of 15% and a 25% discount on select accessories.
