Yes, your current plan will go away. They will get you on a "new" plan of: $monthly payment for the phone PLUS $monthly payment for access (which is your minutes, texting and email) PLUS $monthly payment for a data plan (which they do offer an unlimited data plan) PLUS any taxes/fees.

You will not be locked into a contract, because while they give you up to 24 months to pay off the device, you have the option to pay it off as early as you want, and you are paying for the service on a month to month basis. As far as the unlimited data goes, it depends on which unlimited plan you are on. If you are grandfathered into an old unlimited plan, then the only way to keep that would be to purchase the phone at it's full retail price. If you are on the new unlimited plan, then you can do the 24 month installments and keep your unlimited data.
