Q: QuestionDo you have to pay for the plan every month or can you just do the monthly payments just to have the phone?

• A:Answer I pay for my plan with my chosen carrier and the monthly charge for my new phone is included in the bill along with the monthly charge for the protection plan that I purchased with the phone. If you buy an unlocked phone you should be able to set it up for monthly payments but you will still need a carrier and plan to use the phone along with a SIM card at some point.

• A:Answer It's not swap-able, like the older Sammys and LG phones. But Samsung (or you) could replace it. Since it's IP rated, I would have Samsung or a warrantied professional do it. But the battery has lasted me the whole day, with pretty heavy use.

• A:Answer Simple answer NO, it does not have to be tied to a plan if you purchase the unlocked phone. Otherwise read the fine print. You can purchase an "unlocked" phone for less upfront money, however, if your wireless carrier is Verizon you will NOT get the HD calling, Video Chat, Messenger+ features, contacts lists, just to name a few. They cannot they be added to an "Unlocked" phone. My experience with Verizon Tech support was not the best since I did not purchase it from them and they are under no obligation other to refer you to where you purchased the phone for any phone related issues. If those Verizon branded features are not important then the unlocked phone may be the cheaper opinion (as of July 2019). BestBuy does have the branded Verizon phones and other carriers that are occasionally at a reduced price. Hope this helps...

• A:Answer Depends on the sale. Be on the look out for every carrier sales and Best Buy sales. For example, I went in Best Buy and I purchase 2 Verizon Samsung Galaxy 9+ during a sale when Verizon had a promotion when you buy 1 get 1 free. Then Beat Buy also had a promotion where you can trade in your old phone and get $150 gift card. So I traded my old phone to get the gift card first. Buy the 2 Verizon phone buy 1 get 1 free (doing monthly payments on the phone). Used the gift card to paid the tax for one phone. So basically I spent nothing out of pocket. My bill is only making 1 phone payment plus the 2 line.
