“I have a Tab 8 SM-T350 that came with a S Pen but can'take figure out how to use. Can someone tell me if that is an app that I need or one that needs turned on for it to work.”

An S Pen will only work with Galaxy Note devices and their top tier tablets. It is not compatible with the Samsung Galaxy A tablet line. Sorry.
