The little metal tool kind of looks like a miniature pair of tweezers. I have never used it but I have been told it is used for taking the old tip out of your s pen. If something happens to the tip or it wears out, you can replace the tip with one of the extras they have included. You get the same tiny package the Note line phones. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The little metal item is a tool for removing worn tips from the stylus. And you have it correct, the 5 little pieces are indeed stylus leads. With extensive use, the small tip on the stylus will eventually wear down, losing some of its sensitivity, and wiil even feel like its dragging across the screen. Using the tool like a pair of tweezers, you simply pull the worn tip out of the stylus, then press in a fresh one. Depending on how fast you wear tips out, you can buy packs of replacements separate, or get an entirely new stylus.
