I purchased this tablet for my mother, who has macular degeneration and was told that it could make phone calls using the cellular network, but after purchasing it and working with tech support folks, found that it could not. Before buying a tablet, get the imei number of the device and check with your network provider to determine if it can make calls. Neither AT&T nor Verizon currently have a table capable of making calls on their networks, but two different T-Mobile/Sprint reps told me that the Samsung Tab A and the Samsung S7 can make calls/send text messages on their network. They have a promo ongoing where you get a free Samsung Tab A when adding a new line to their network, so that's worth checking out. The Tab A is smaller (8.4") but free is good! I wish you well in finding a resolution.
