Q: QuestionCan you send/receive texts and make /receive cals?
Asked by Phone.
- A:Answer Disclaimer: I've been down the Samsung S7 rabbit hole. I've already purchased and returned two through Amazon. There are so many various models -- and I'm not sure exactly what Best Buy offers, so this response is in general about the tablet and not specific to Best Buy's inventory. Samsung makes a model that is wifi only and does not have a SIM card slot (it does but it's got a black plastic insert that won't allow you to put a SIM in; additionally, I was told that even if you get a SIM in one of these models, it will not work as the software isn't compatible with cell towers). So that's one model. That model will NOT allow you to text or make phone calls because, obviously, it doesn't have a SIM card associated with a cell phone carrier. Other models have the capability of LTE service (i.e., cell service) but my experience is you still have to buy the model that is specific to your carrier. If you look at Samsung's website, you'll notice that to purchase one of these "LTE" tablets, you have to specify which carrier you'll be using. Finally, as if this doesn't add enough confusion to your search, apparently some models don't even have 5G capability loaded. I'm not sure if this is an issue with US models, but I purchased a "5G" capable tablet from Amazon that actually came from South Korea only to find it was not compatible with any 5G software here in the US. My best advise is to do what I'm doing and go to Best Buy and ask them questions. I'm actually taking my carrier SIM and am not going to purchase anything until I see that the SIM actually works once I put it in the tablet. So to answer your specific question about making calls and texts, yes, you can use this tablet to make calls and texts as long as 1) you purchase an S7 that has LTE capabilities AND 2) you have the appropriate tablet plan through your cell phone carrier (i.e., Verizon, AT&T, etc). Hope this helps!
