Yes, it all depends on your phone carrier. Most major carriers have accessories plans for your watches, some as little as $15.00 a month. If your phone carrier doesn't offer those plans the watch must be connected via bluetooth to your phone in order to make and receive calls, texts and emails and apps (that u have installed) notifications.

Yes you can if you buy the watch that is compatible to add service. The watch comes with two version which wifi only or can have service.
