“I am aware the buds charge inside the case, but can the case wirelessly charge on a QI pad like the galaxy phones? I'm just asking because the case to the apple air pods can and apple is usually not ahead of Samsung.”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.First, The current version of the Apple Airpods do NOT charge wirelessly. There is a new Airpod case that is being released in 2018 that will have that ability. Second, the ICON X 2018 model does not wirelessly charge either.
