I have had the 2016 and the 2017. In appearance they seem pretty identical. I want to saw the color is slightly different. But I never put the two next to each other so I cant confirm that. But I will tell you in the 2015, and 2016 VR headsets I always had issues with fogging up the eye pieces and this year I have had no issues. I am not sure if there was a small design change I cant seem to notice. But the fogging has been resolved for me
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe the newer model uses a USB-C connection where the phone fits in vs the micro usb
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 2017 comes with a USB-C module adapter for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ so it will fit in the VR headset. It still has the micro USB modele as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's the same, BUT. The 2016 models made before and for the Note 7 will fit S8, After Note 7 disaster, only S7 and S6. there was a interchangeable plug that's missing in the later models
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe the difference between the two, is that the new S8 will not fit into the old one. The design of the phone makes it impossible. However, the new gear comes with adapters so you can fit the s6 and s7 in them. (I will say I have not tried to do that personally, but it's the only conclusion I came up with as why it comes with those add one).
