Recovery discs are not included, but this laptop (and all models that include Windows Vista, 7 or 8) feature pre-installed software utilities that allow owners to create backup discs at any time.

For two days, I could not be on my computer for more than 1-2 minutes before thing popped up - crippling it. It did not help that I was out of town. When I got home and to another comp - I read that I might only be able to get rid of this with a clean install. The only installation disc I had was Win 7. I put that on - and THEN called Samsung about something else. Insisting that I might have voided my warranty - and that I should have called Samsung FIRST - the CSR - told me about the hidden partition with WIN 8 on it. You are supposed to press F4 at start up to get to it. We tried many times - but it did not work. I thought it was because I installed WIN 7. Today, I have read all of these reviews of people stating that when they got their refurbished computer - the recovery partition WAS NOT THERE! Last night my comp tried to do a SW update of the recovery files - and cancelled itself - indicating that it could not find this partition. I suggest anyone who is interested in buying this computer - gives it a try - but check to see if the partition IS there when they first get it.

If not, Samsung has them already made and it's usually between $20 - $50 depending on what model. You can also have Geek Squad create them for you for $60 - $70, but it has to be within a certain time frame.
