• This is a blank m.2 drive. You will need to formatted if using for extra storage. If using it to install windows on it then once is installed on your pc and you boot into windows installation process you will choose this and it will automatically format it to what it needs.

• It's just a hard drive. You format it how you want and put whatever on it you want.

• It is not formatted. It needs to be activated and then you can format, make it bootable if you want and load an OS
