Yes you can text, via voice. There is no keyboard. You can respond and create new text messages via voice just by directing your voice towards the watch and saying "OK GOOGLE". Then just say "send text to (whomever)", and speak the message...within a few seconds, the watch will show you whats been spoken and put into text and send giving you ample time to cancel or change if needed.

Yes. You can send a voice command such as "Ok Google.. Send message to [Name]" it'll find the contact then ask for the message and you can speak that as well. However, if Google Hangouts isn't your default messaging app, you can't reply via voice.
