Virtual means virtual surround sound. It’s where the sound bar will take the incoming audio signal and send sound to the rears, side and up firing speakers based on what IT thinks should go there. Surround Sound mode is where the signal coming into the system is already coded for surround and only the sounds intended to go the tears are sent there. Hope this helps!
