Great question! This model has a charging stand that holds the vacuum upright while charging. To see how the charging stand works, I'm providing this link (https://bit.ly/2YKfCjc) to the user manual for this model. Pages 17-18 have detailed instructions and images showing how to use the charging stand. ^Jecca
