• The adapter has 2 ports, one is for the hdmi cord and the other is a USB port for your charger cord. The hdmi cord needs a power source, hence the port for your charger. Therefore, it does indeed keep your phone charged.

• The hdmi adapter dose not power the device unless you have ur phone charger connected to the slot on the micro usb device its self

• No it drains the charge faster then the charger can power both devices
