Is this just a matter of connecting an USB cable to the laptop, running it through a USB to HDMI adapter and connecting to the flat screen with a HDMI cable? Is there any way to connect laptop to flat screen with USB cable with male connectors on both ends? (This would save me time swapping out one of the two devices already taking up the two existing HDMI ports on the LG F.S.?) Thank you.”

Unfortunately, the Samsung Micro USB to HDMI adapter won't work for you . It was designed as a special 11 pin out to the port on specific Samsung products. And for the most part the Toshiba C655 only came with two usb 2.0 ports. The good news is that you can purchase an external usb 2.0 adapter that will connect to an HDMI cable and give your laptop the ability to send the content to your LG TV. YOu will need to obtain at least a good 14' HDMI cable for this purpose which will connect to the adapter and then to the female port on your TV. The only other option aside from this is to purchase a new laptop with a built-in HDMI port.
