This is a zigbee device. You can't just use an app.

I use the app for sensing door opening. I think it's a good sensor. The app is really good. Best Buy should consider a demo to show off some of the products. I have Nest, Harmony , Hue and Smartthings and I use them all. Google home controls most of them.
